I can say that my lifelong passion for reading has prevented me from accomplishing ‘the art of doing nothing.’ Because whenever I had some time to spare I would automatically reach for a book. Even when I was stuck in traffic or waiting for someone, this situation would not change because I would always have a book waiting for me in my purse. In fact I still do. But what’s changed is that when I’m waiting, I don’t immediately take out my book. I stop. I look around. I take a deep breath. I enjoy not doing anything.
Understand that you’ve become a master in the art of doing nothing when, without thinking about having to do something else in that moment, you just stop and feel that you’re doing something positive for yourself!
